Bolia Store Amsterdam

Dinsdag was ik bij de opening van de nieuwe Bolia Store aan de Utrechtsestraat in Amsterdam en wat heb ik genoten! Samen met andere bloggers, stylisten en pers mocht ik een kijkje nemen in het flinke hoekpand met typische Deense hapjes, drankjes en muziek!

De winkel voelt bij binnenkomst meteen huiselijk aan door de diverse ingerichte sfeerhoeken, fantastisch mooie kasten met een sierlijke doch traditionele omlijsting, het interessante kleurgebruik, de hoeveelheid groen, de accessoires, de heerlijke geur, de muziek… Bolia prikkelt werkelijk waar al je zintuigen! Het nieuwe Scandinavische design – zoals ze zichzelf omschrijven – valt goed in de smaak!

Tuesday I attended the grand opening of the new Bolia Store in Amsterdam! Together with fellow bloggers, stylists and press I enjoyed a sneak peek into the beautiful world of this Danish brand with all it’s design, snacks, drinks and music! 

The store felt like coming home due to all it’s styled corners, amazing cabins, interesting color use, urban greens, accessories, the home fragrance, the (house) music… Bolia stimulates all your senses! The New Scandinavian Design brand knows how to sell a lifestyle! 

Mocht je net als ik een beetje uitgekeken zijn op Scandinavisch, dan moet je zeker een bezoekje brengen aan Bolia! Ze laten namelijk zien dat Scandinavisch niet altijd zwart/wit hoeft te zijn en durft juist verschillende kleuren te combineren. De winkel is prachtig ingericht en omdat ik veel te vroeg ben, heb ik ‘m zelfs heel even voor mij alleen 🙂 Dat betekent dat ik ook meteen de Bolia-familie kan spreken, yay! Wat een fijne mensen! Niet gek dat dit merk zo goed in elkaar zit met al die blije creatieve en inspirerende medewerkers die de Bolia-lifestyle maar al te goed weten te delen.

If you are a bit bored on Scandinavian (white) design like me, I recommend you a visit to Bolia!! They will change your opinion and invite you back in Scandinavian with the use of subtle colours – light AND dark. I love the decoration of the store which I could enjoy from the start because I was a bit early and even attended the unroll of the red carpet 😉 But, at least I could start enjoying the store earlier and talk with the Bolia family which are such a lovely people! I wish I was part of the team because it felt so right to join the lifestyle! 

De winkel bestaat uit een begane grond en een kelder die met een verlichte trap en een mega kokedama (~ een Japanse Bonsai mos bal) aan een katrol. De muur van het trappengat is gedecoreerd met zwartwit portretten van het designteam van Bolia – een soort ‘wall of fame’.

The store got a ground and a basement. Both got a mix of dark and light colours, textures and beautiful home deco. On the wall of the staircase you find the design team of Bolia – sort of a ‘Wall of Fame’. On the other side a huge ‘Amsterdam’ pulley with a kokedama (~a Japanese moss ball). You should definitely see this for yourself – all sort of greens and more kokedama’s are found in the store.

De kelder is ingedeeld met de iets donkere collectie waar ik in een knus zithoekje de lifestyle voorgeschoteld krijgt van Bolia’s HR dame die trots verteld over de winkel, maar ook over de creatieve flow binnen Bolia. Alles draait om de beleving want “No One Lives Like You” (quote van huidige collectie).

I really loved the more dark collection which can be found in the basement. I just wanted to invite all my friends over at this dining table and enjoy the tableware! I sat down with the PR lady (if you are reading this – thank you for your inspiring talk!) to talk more about the creative flow within Bolia.

Tijdens deze avond vol traktaties voor het oog, geniet ik ook van Deense hapjes en natuurlijk Glögg! Een soort Sangria, gemaakt van witte wijn, rum en appelsap – laat ik mij vertellen!

I can’t wait to have some Danish snacks soon because I truly loved them! Especially the Glögg with some fine white wine, rum and apple juice – YUM! 

Ook worden onze oren getrakteerd door de intense zang van Kris Herman, een Deense popzanger van wie ik thuis nog even kan nagenieten. O, speaking of: de huidige (house) muziek die gedraaid wordt in de winkel, is gemixt door DJ’s die CEO Lars persoonlijk kent. Alle mixes zijn te vinden op Soundcloud (ik heb de laatste dagen niks anders geluisterd). Wat een fantastische avond!

Kan je niet wachten om Bolia te ontdekken of ben je binnenkort in Amsterdam breng dan zeker een bezoek aan de Bolia Store op de Utrechtsestraat voor de ultieme beleving. Persoonlijk ben ik ook enorm gecharmeerd van de website met het prachtige beeld maar die haalt het niet bij de offline ervaring!

Even our ears are pleased by Danish pop singer Kris Herman, which I can now enjoy at home too! Speaking of ear pleasing music, Bolia even got a Soundcloud account on which you can even download their mix tapes for free -for free? – yes indeed! I haven’t listened to anything else for the past days – really like them while designing! 

Everything is about the complete experience, that starts with entering the store, enjoying the fragrance, have an organic cup of coffee and some chocolate, enjoying the Bolia mix tapes while looking at home accessories and furniture. Feel at home and find your own way around. Create your own couch, pix the right fabric and style it like you imagined because; No One Lives Like You”.
